Cherry Picking

This past Saturday we headed up north to Flathead Lake to pick cherries. We went to the Fat Robin (love the name!!!!) Orchard and picked around 23 pounds of cherries. They had two different kinds to pick from. One kind was grown on dwarf trees. This was nice since the trees were low enough for the kids to pick off of. After we picked the cherries, we went to play at the lake. We had never been to this beach before and assumed it was like the ones on the other side of the lake we have been to before, nice and sandy and crowded. Well, it wasn't. It was a rocky man-made beach that was mainly used for the boat dock. There weren't even very many people swimming there. There was NO sand on the beach, just lots of rocks, which was PEFECT for Ryker (he loves rocks). The kids didn't have swimming suits (again hoping for a sandy beach to play on) but they didn't have any problems getting in the water once they found out I had brought an extra set of clothes, just in case. They had a blast and I couldn't get them out of the water when it was time to go (I think Grant was the worst one!!!)! Since we got home, I have made cherry jelly and canned the rest of the cherries for pies and such later on.
