Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6

On Saturday, I woke up to the kids singing me Happy Birthday. It was cute. We got up a little earlier than usual because if you made it to the children's zoo during the first hour it's open (at the main zoo), you could get in free. So, we went to the children's zoo, didn't really see much that we were all excited about, but they had a fun play area for the kids to play in. We rode the railroad at the zoo, Avery and Grant saw a 3-D dinosaur movie, we had lunch at the zoo and finished the day off at the monkey house. We went to a "turtle park" which has HUGE concrete turtles that the kids loved to climb and slide on. It is part of the Forest Park area also.
The kids were VERY tired of walking and just wanted to play for a while, so we drove out to the temple so they could see it. There is a park a little ways down the road from the temple, so we stopped there and let the kids play. We went to Olive Garden for dinner -- my birthday request -- and then headed back to the hotel. Zadyn and I sat in the hotel room and watched Cinderella on the laptop while the boys went swimming.

Our favorites of the day were: Avery liked the Dinosaur movie, Kyler liked the Elephants and the train ride, Zadyn liked the train ride, Mom liked eating at Olive Garden, and Dad liked seeing the temple. While we were eating that night, the baby got the hiccups. I told the kids this and that got them thinking. Zadyn asked if the baby cried in my belly. I told her my baby doesn't cry, it gets the hiccups. Then Avery asked if the baby pees in me and Kyler wanted to know if the baby poops in me. BOYS!?!?!?!?!

Sunday we stayed at the hotel for the morning and hooked up the laptop to watch conference. We were able to get a good stream from BYU TV and enjoyed watching the session. We ate a quick lunch in the hotel and then headed to the arch. The kids had waited ALL week for this day. We started by going on the Tom Sawyer Riverboat ride on the Mississippi River. They loved it! It was a little touristy, but fun. Then we walked around the arch, went to the gift shop and museum UNDER the arch (yes, underground, and you have to have your bags checked and go through a metal detector to get in!!!!), and then headed to Union Station, an old train station turned mall to look for T-shirts.

We let Avery pick the dinner spot tonight and not suprisingly he picked Red Lobster for Shrimp. We had to wait a while, but it was good food. We went back to the hotel and watched a little TV before turning in for the night.

The favorites for Sunday: Avery liked the boat ride and the shrimp at Red Lobster. Kyler liked the boat ride and the Arch. Zadyn liked the boat ride and looking for Mermaids in the river. Mom liked the boat ride and having to go through security to get under the arch. Dad liked leaving Illinois (we drove over the border so the kids could say they've been to Illinois), watching conference and having a nice steak at Red Lobster. Avery had the two funny quotes for the day. He informed us that "if your steak comes out mooing, you get to have milk, too!" Grant had ordered his steak medium. Then, while looking at the sea salt on the table, Avery asked if they had sea pepper, too.

Wow sounds like the best weekend ever. I personally would love the shrimp too.

Another great day of adventures, so glad you were able to do and see so much. I love eating at the Olive Garden, too. I think the river boat ride would have been fun. Sea pepper, eh...too funny.
